JORGE PARDO

Jorge Pardo (Madrid, España, 1955). Sax and flute.

Jorge Pardo, saxophone and flute player, is one of the most outstanding and consistent revelations of the flamenco jazz fusion. He started studying at the Madrid Conservatory when he was fourteen. Soon, he oriented his career towards jazz, and he was one of the founders of Dolores (with Pedro Ruy-Blas).

He is one of the most international Spanish jazz players. He entered the flamenco world carried by Paco de Lucía, and he has achieved a new blending of the more traditional jazz with flamenco. His playing style, with the cross flute as well as the saxophone, has become a referential point.

Jorge Pardo

Apart of working with the Paco de Lucía Sextet, he also has played with almost all of the most important flamenco artists. He also has performed with Chick Corea and Astrud Gilberto, and usually collaborates with Ketama and La Barbería del Sur.

Some of his solo records are deeply involved in the exploration of flamenco rythms and jazz tradition, with recordings such as ‘Veloz hacia su sino’, ‘Las guitarras son quizás sordas’, ‘2332’ and ‘Mira’, among others.

With bass player Carles Benavent and percussionist Tino di Geraldo founded a trio that released the live recording ‘El concierto de Sevilla’ and ‘Sin Precedentes’.

Pardo is also part of the trio D’3 with double-bass player Francis Posé and percussionist J. Vázquez ‘Roper’.

Since 2004, Jorge Pardo has been a member of Chick Corea’s Touchstone band.

In 2005, Pardo released the solo album ‘Vientos flamencos’, simultaneously published in digital format at Flamencodigital.com, with collaborations by Juan Diego and Niño Josele, among others.

In 2009 released his newest CD ‘Vientos Flamencos 2’. He has performed live at forums in the all the 5 Continents.
